Richard Warwick (born Richard Carey Winter; 29 April 1945 – 16 December 1997) was a British actor. His film career began in 1968 with two notable roles: he was one of the leads in Lindsay Anderson's cult film *If....* and played Gregory in Franco Zeffirelli's *Romeo and Juliet*. In subsequent years, he appeared in major productions such as *Nicholas and Alexandra* (1971) and became a regular in Derek Jarman's avant-garde films, appearing in *Sebastiane* (1976) and *Jubilee* (1978). In addition to film, he was very active in television, acting in numerous successful series, including the original *Poldark* (1975) and the 1980 adaptation of *A Tale of Two Cities*. Although he did not receive any major individual awards, his contribution is recognized for his work in culturally significant films. He continued to work until the early 1990s, before his death at the age of 52 from an AIDS-related illness.
