Rita Tushingham is a British actress, an iconic figure of the British New Wave and the "kitchen sink" drama of the 1960s. She achieved international fame with her debut film, *A Taste of Honey* (1961), in the role of the troubled teenager Jo. For this performance, she gained immediate critical acclaim, winning the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival, the Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer – Female, and the BAFTA for Most Promising Newcomer. Her face, characterised by large, expressive eyes, became a symbol of a new, non-conformist femininity. Her career continued with notable roles in films such as *The Leather Boys* (1964), the Palme d'Or-winning comedy *The Knack ...and How to Get It* (1965), and the international epic *Doctor Zhivago* (1965). Active for decades, she has worked consistently in film and television, participating in numerous international productions and maintaining her status as an influential figure in modern British cinema.
