Robert Walker
Robert Hudson Walker was an American actor, known for his versatility and for an intense yet brief career. Initially establishing himself in "boy-next-door" roles thanks to his youthful charm, as in the film *The Clock* (1945) alongside Judy Garland, he soon demonstrated remarkable dramatic talent. His performance in the war drama *Since You Went Away* (1944) earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, solidifying his fame in Hollywood. However, his most celebrated and acclaimed role remains that of the charismatic and psychopathic Bruno Antony in Alfred Hitchcock's *Strangers on a Train* (1951), a performance that upended his public image and became an icon of film noir. His other significant films include *The Valley of Decision* (1945) and *My Son John* (1952), released posthumously. His promising career was tragically cut short by his premature death at the age of 32.
