
Roef Ragas
Roef Ragas (Harderwijk, May 25, 1965 – Amsterdam, August 30, 2007) was a Dutch actor, active in theater, television, and film. He achieved international recognition for his role in the film *Karakter* (1997), directed by Mike van Diem, which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. His performance in *De Poolse Bruid* (1998) earned him a nomination for the Golden Calf, the most prestigious film award in the Netherlands, consolidating his reputation as a versatile actor. On the small screen, he became a very popular figure for his role as detective Rinus de Gier in the successful crime series *Grijpstra & De Gier*, which began in 2004 and in which he starred until his death. His promising career, which ranged from dramatic roles to more lighthearted characters, was abruptly cut short by his premature death at the age of 42 due to cardiac arrest.
