Roman Madyanov

Roman Madyanov (1962–2024) was an acclaimed Russian actor whose prolific career spanned both theater and film. After graduating from the Russian Academy of Theater Arts, he began his career on the stage of the Mayakovsky Theater in Moscow. Although he began acting as a child, Madyanov became one of the most recognizable faces of post-Soviet Russian cinema, known for his extraordinary versatility. He achieved international fame with his memorable role as the corrupt mayor Vadim in Andrei Zvyagintsev's 2014 film Leviathan, which won the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film. His performance earned him the Nika Award and the Golden Eagle Award for Best Supporting Actor. Throughout his career, Madyanov won numerous other Nika Awards, cementing his reputation as one of the most talented and respected character actors of his generation in Russia.
