Roman Zeller
Roman Zeller is a Swiss cinematographer, primarily known for his collaboration with directors Ramon and Silvan Zürcher. His style is characterized by precise and rigorous cinematography, which employs predominantly static shots or slow camera movements to create claustrophobic and observational atmospheres, where every visual detail gains narrative significance. His career is inextricably linked to the works of the Zürcher brothers, for whom he has served as cinematographer on critically acclaimed films such as *Das merkwürdige Kätzchen* (2013) and *Das Mädchen und die Spinne* (2021). For the latter film, he earned his most significant international award, winning the Silver Bear for Best Cinematography at the 2021 Berlin International Film Festival. His aesthetic is fundamental in defining the unique and almost theatrical visual language that characterizes the films of the directors with whom he collaborates, making him a key figure in contemporary European auteur cinema.
