Rossana Martini

Rossana Martini (Empoli, September 10, 1926 – Trieste, February 2, 1988) was an Italian actress and model. She rose to prominence in 1946 when she won the first post-war edition of the Miss Italia pageant in Stresa, a recognition that opened the doors to the entertainment world. She made her film debut shortly after, beginning a career that developed mainly between the late 1940s and throughout the 1950s. Although often in supporting roles, she took part in highly significant films in Italian cinema. Her most notable performances include roles in films such as Giuseppe De Santis's *Bitter Rice* (1949), a foundational work of Neorealism; *Se fossi deputato* (1949) alongside Totò; and the first installment of the *Don Camillo* saga (1952), directed by Julien Duvivier. Her filmography includes over twenty titles, testifying to her consistent presence in both popular and auteur cinema of that period.
