Royal Dano
Royal Dano was a prolific American character actor, known for his gaunt physique and deep, resonant voice, which made him ideal for portraying intense, often eccentric or tormented characters, predominantly in Western films. His career took off with the role of the Tattered Man in John Huston's *The Red Badge of Courage* (1951), with whom he collaborated again in the memorable role of Elijah in *Moby Dick* (1956). His other significant performances include roles in *King of Kings* (1961), *The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn* (1960), and *The Outlaw Josey Wales* (1976). Also highly active in television, he appeared in countless series such as *Gunsmoke* and *Bonanza*. A distinctive and lasting contribution was lending his voice to Abraham Lincoln for the celebrated Disney theme park attraction "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln," a role he held for decades. Although he did not receive any major awards, his unmistakable presence left a lasting mark on American cinema and television.
