Rubi D'Alma

Giuseppina Angela Maranca, known by the pen name Rubi D'Alma, was an Italian poet (Voghera, 1897 – Varazze, 1994). Active primarily in the first half of the 20th century, she achieved notable popularity for her crepuscular-toned poetry, characterized by simple, direct language that explored sentimental themes such as love, melancholy, and intimacy. Her most significant collections include *Canti d'amore e di tristezza* (1927), *Il cuore e la mascherina* (1929), and *I roseti di Samarkanda* (1938). Her greatest and most lasting recognition is linked to the poem "Il più bel giorno," featured in her debut work. This piece earned her widespread fame among the general public, although over time it has often been erroneously attributed to other authors, including Nazim Hikmet, solidifying her status as a beloved author who was, at the same time, partially overshadowed by the success of her own most famous creation.
