Rudy Vallee

Hubert Prior "Rudy" Vallee was an American singer, actor, and bandleader, considered one of the first major stars of modern pop music and a pioneer of the "crooner" style. He achieved enormous popularity in the late 1920s and 1930s with his orchestra, the Connecticut Yankees. His intimate and suave vocal style, amplified first by a megaphone and later by a microphone, made him an idol for radio audiences. His best-known hits include his signature song "My Time Is Your Time," "The Whiffenpoof Song," and "Life Is Just a Bowl of Cherries." His radio show, *The Fleischmann's Yeast Hour*, was one of the most popular of the era, and his career successfully extended to film and Broadway theater, with a notable performance in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." For his contribution to the entertainment industry, he received two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for radio and one for recording.
