
Ruth Roman
Ruth Roman (1922-1999) was an American actress whose career peaked in the late 1940s and 1950s. She became known for her intense roles in dramatic and noir films, establishing herself as one of the leading actresses of the period. Among her most significant works are the boxing drama *Champion* (1949), for which she won a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer, and Alfred Hitchcock's celebrated thriller *Strangers on a Train* (1951), where she played the female lead, Anne Morton. Another of her successful films was *The Window* (1949). Beginning in the 1960s, her work shifted primarily to television, where she received an Emmy Award nomination for the miniseries *The Long, Hot Summer* (1965). She continued to work regularly as a guest star in numerous popular series, maintaining her screen presence for over four decades.
