
Ryo Ishibashi
Ryo Ishibashi (石橋 凌, Ishibashi Ryō; Fukuoka, July 20, 1956) is a Japanese actor and musician. He began his career as the frontman of the rock band ARB (Alexander Ragtime Band), which was highly influential in the Japanese music scene from the late 1970s to 1990. Concurrently, in the mid-1980s, he embarked on a prolific acting career, becoming a well-known face in Japanese cinema. His international fame is primarily linked to his leading role in Takashi Miike's cult horror film *Audition* (1999). He has also collaborated with director Takeshi Kitano on films such as *Kids Return* (1996) and *Brother* (2000). Internationally, he is known for playing Detective Nakagawa in the American horror franchise *The Grudge* (2004) and its sequel, *The Grudge 2* (2006). Throughout his career, he has received several domestic awards, including a Blue Ribbon Award for Best Newcomer, establishing himself as a versatile and acclaimed performer.
