
Sam Worthington
Samuel Henry John Worthington, known as Sam Worthington, is an Australian actor born in Godalming, England, on August 2, 1976. After graduating from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney, he began his career in Australian film and television, gaining his first major recognition in 2004 with the film *Somersault*, for which he won the AACTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. His career reached an international breakthrough in 2009 when he played two high-profile roles: Marcus Wright in *Terminator Salvation* and, most notably, the protagonist Jake Sully in James Cameron's film *Avatar*, which became one of the highest-grossing films in cinema history and earned him a Saturn Award. This success established him as a Hollywood star, leading him to star in blockbusters such as *Clash of the Titans* (2010) and its sequel, and in acclaimed films like Mel Gibson's *Hacksaw Ridge* (2016). He reprised his most famous role in the sequel *Avatar: The Way of Water* (2022), consolidating his status as a leading actor in large-scale productions.
