Samud Kugasang, born in 1957 in Phetchaburi, is a Thai sculptor internationally renowned for his impressive sculptures made entirely from recycled scrap metal. His artistic career focuses on the practice of upcycling, transforming parts from discarded automobiles, motorcycles, and machinery into intricate works of art. His creations, characterized by meticulous attention to detail and accurate anatomical reproduction, often depict animals, mythological creatures, and popular culture icons, such as characters from the "Transformers," "Alien," and "Predator" franchises. Kugasang founded the Ban Hun Lek (House of Steel Robots) workshop and museum in Ang Thong province, where he exhibits many of his works. His innovative approach and technical mastery have earned him significant global recognition, with works commissioned and exhibited in various parts of the world, establishing him as a leading figure in recycled metal art.
