Alessandro "Sandro" Panseri (Bergamo, 1945 – Milan, 2023) was an Italian actor, primarily known for his leading role as Domenico Cantoni in Ermanno Olmi's masterpiece film *Il Posto* (1961). Chosen by the director as a teenager with no prior professional experience, his natural and sensitive performance earned widespread critical acclaim, contributing to the international success of the film, which won, among other prizes, the Critics' Award at the Venice Film Festival. Following his dazzling debut, his film career continued with minor roles in films such as *I fidanzati* (1963), also by Olmi, and Damiano Damiani's *La rimpatriata* (1963). However, Panseri chose to leave acting early on to pursue a different career path, becoming an executive in the large-scale retail industry. Despite his brief artistic career, his face remains inextricably linked to one of the most significant works of post-war Italian cinema, a symbol of the transition to a new modernity.
