
Sandy Helberg
Sandy Helberg, born Sanford Helberg on May 28, 1949, in Frankfurt, Germany, is an American actor and screenwriter. He is known for his collaborations with director Mel Brooks, appearing in cult films such as *High Anxiety*, *History of the World, Part I*, and *Spaceballs*. His long television career includes numerous appearances in popular series, including *M*A*S*H*, *The Jeffersons*, and *Murder, She Wrote*, which solidified his reputation as a versatile character actor. In addition to acting, Helberg was one of the original members of the renowned improv and sketch comedy troupe The Groundlings in Los Angeles, helping to establish a major training ground for comedic talent. As a screenwriter, he has written episodes for successful series such as *The Golden Girls* and has developed several television projects. Married to casting director Harriet B. Helberg, he is the father of actor Simon Helberg.
