Satoshi Kon (1963-2010) was an acclaimed Japanese film director, animator, and screenwriter, known for his distinctive style that explores the boundaries between reality, dream, and illusion. After debuting as a manga artist and collaborating with Katsuhiro Otomo, he made his directorial debut in 1997 with the psychological thriller *Perfect Blue*. His filmography, produced primarily with the studio Madhouse, includes impactful works such as *Millennium Actress* (2001), co-winner of the Grand Prize at the Japan Media Arts Festival, the comedy-drama *Tokyo Godfathers* (2003), and the visionary *Paprika* (2006), which premiered in competition at the Venice Film Festival. He also created the television series *Paranoia Agent* (2004), an analysis of social anxiety. His work is internationally celebrated for its complex narrative, thematic maturity, and profound psychological exploration. His untimely death halted the production of his final film, *The Dreaming Machine*, leaving behind a fundamental legacy in world animation.
