Scott Brandt
Scott Brandt is an American computer scientist recognized for his contributions in the field of storage systems and operating systems. He is primarily known as the co-creator of the distributed storage system Ceph, a highly scalable open-source project that has had a significant impact on the cloud computing and data storage industry. He spent much of his academic career at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), where he was a professor of computer science. Subsequently, he continued his research at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, focusing on storage systems for high-performance computing (HPC). For his work, he has been named a Fellow of both the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Additionally, his contribution to Ceph was recognized with the prestigious USENIX FAST Test of Time Award, a testament to its lasting influence in the field.
