Serge Davri
Serge Davri, the pseudonym of Sergio D'Avrì (Bari, 1919 – Paris, 2012), was an Italian-born French painter and sculptor, and a leading figure in European Art Informel. After moving to Paris in 1947, he came into contact with the post-war avant-garde movements, evolving from a figurative style to material abstraction. His work focused on the exploration of space and matter, using unconventional materials such as sand, plaster, and glues to create dense, three-dimensional works. Among his most noted series are "Voli" (Flights) and "Spazi" (Spaces), which reflect his interest in the cosmos and dynamism. His career was marked by significant recognition, including repeated participation in the Venice Biennale starting in the 1950s. He exhibited in prestigious international galleries, such as the Galleria del Naviglio in Milan and the Galerie Stadler in Paris, consolidating his role as a key figure in Spatialism and abstract art.
