Shinnosuke Ikehata (池畑 慎之介, Ikehata Shinnosuke), born on August 8, 1952, in Osaka, is a Japanese actor, singer, and dancer, also known professionally by the stage name Peter (ピーター, Pītā). He made his film debut at the age of 16 as the lead in the avant-garde film *Bara no Sōretsu* (Funeral Parade of Roses, 1969) by Toshio Matsumoto, a pivotal work of Japanese queer cinema. In the same year, he achieved fame as a singer with the hit single "Yoru to Asa no Aida ni." His international career is inextricably linked to the role of the fool Kyoami in Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece, *Ran* (1985). This performance earned him critical acclaim and numerous awards, including a nomination for the Japan Academy Prize for Best Supporting Actor. His multifaceted career has also seen him active in theater, television, and other film productions, including Takeshi Kitano's *Zatōichi* (2003), solidifying his reputation as a versatile artist and cultural icon.
