
Simon Yam
Simon Yam Tat-wah is a Hong Kong actor and film producer, known for his prolific career and remarkable versatility. He began as a model in the 1970s before transitioning to television with the broadcaster TVB. He made his film debut in the late 1980s, quickly establishing himself as a leading figure in Hong Kong cinema. His filmography, which includes over two hundred titles, encompasses a wide range of genres, from action films and crime thrillers, often in the role of a gangster or a police officer, to Category III films and art-house dramas. Among his most celebrated performances are those in Johnnie To's films, such as *PTU* (2003), *Election* (2005), and its sequel *Election 2* (2006). He has also appeared in international productions such as *Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life* (2003). He has received numerous accolades for his work; in 2010, he won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actor for the drama film *Echoes of the Rainbow*, having previously won the Golden Bauhinia Award for *PTU*.
