Siriwej Jareornchon (1937-2009) was a Thai pharmacist, botanist, and academic, regarded as a pioneering figure in the scientific study of his country's traditional herbal medicine. He dedicated much of his career to teaching and research at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Chulalongkorn University, where he also served as Dean. His work was fundamental to the validation and systematization of Thai pharmacognosy, bridging ancient knowledge with modern methodologies. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Botanical Garden, a major center for the conservation and study of medicinal plants. As the author of numerous publications and reference texts, he trained generations of pharmacists and researchers. For his exceptional contribution to science and the enhancement of the national botanical heritage, he received prestigious awards in Thailand, solidifying his legacy as one of the foremost experts in the field.
