Smaro Gaitanidou (Athens, 1969) is a Greek actress who trained at the Drama School of the National Theatre of Greece. Her career has developed predominantly in theatre, where she has distinguished herself for her versatility and interpretive intensity. She has collaborated with major institutions such as the National Theatre of Greece and the Karolos Koun Art Theatre, working under the direction of internationally renowned directors such as Lefteris Voyatzis, Theodoros Terzopoulos, and Matthias Langhoff. Alongside her stage work, she has appeared in several film productions. Her most significant roles include those in Yorgos Lanthimos's *Kinetta* (2005) and Elina Psykou's *Son of Sofia* (2017). Her talent has been recognized with prestigious awards; in 2008, she received the Melina Mercouri Theatre Award, one of the most important in the Greek theatre scene, confirming her status as a leading actress.
