
So Hang-Suen
So Hang-Suen (1951-2013) was a renowned Hong Kong actress, known for her long and acclaimed career in television and film. A 1972 graduate of the first artist training class of the broadcaster TVB, she soon specialized in roles as motherly figures and gentle characters, becoming a familiar face to audiences. Among her most iconic television roles is her portrayal of Li Ping, the mother of Guo Jing, in the celebrated 1983 wuxia series *The Legend of the Condor Heroes*, as well as her appearances in classics such as *The Bund*. Her film career peaked with Johnnie To's 2011 film *Life Without Principle*. For her intense performance in the film, she won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 31st Hong Kong Film Awards in 2012. After partially retiring from acting in the 1990s for health reasons, her performance in To's film marked an acclaimed comeback before her death in 2013.
