Solange Certin
Solange Certin, born on June 12, 1969, in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe, was a French track and field athlete who specialized in sprinting, particularly the 400 meters and the 4x400 meter relay. During her career, primarily active in the late 1990s and early 2000s, she established herself as one of the top relay runners for the French national team. She achieved her most significant individual success in 1997, winning the gold medal in the 400 meters at the Mediterranean Games in Bari. In the same year, she contributed to the 4x400 meter relay team's bronze medal win at the World Championships in Athens. Her international accomplishments were further enhanced by two silver medals, also in the relay: the first at the 1998 European Championships in Budapest and the second at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton. At the national level, she was a multiple-time French champion in the 400 meters, cementing her role as a leading figure in her country's athletics.
