Sonia Petrovna is a French actress of Russian and German descent, known for her career in European auteur cinema, particularly in Italy. Born in Paris, she began her artistic training as a dancer at the Paris Opéra Ballet School. Her major film debut came in 1972 with Valerio Zurlini's *La prima notte di quiete*, in which she starred alongside Alain Delon. This performance brought her immediate notability and led her to collaborate with another master of Italian cinema, Luchino Visconti, in the film *Ludwig* (1973), in the role of Sophie of Bavaria. Throughout her career, she has worked in numerous Italian, French, and international productions, spanning both film and television and working with directors such as Claude Lelouch and Umberto Lenzi. For her contribution to cinema, she has received significant accolades, including a special award at the Taormina Film Festival for her performance in Zurlini's film. Her image has remained associated with a melancholic elegance and a refined talent.
