Stanley Fields

Stanley Fields (born Walter L. Agnew; May 20, 1883 – April 23, 1941) was an American character actor. Active primarily in the 1930s, he specialized in "tough guy" roles, often playing gangsters, criminals, and rugged characters, thanks to his imposing screen presence. His prolific filmography includes appearances in iconic films such as *Little Caesar* (1931), in the role of rival mob boss Sam Vettori, and in award-winning works like *Cimarron* (1931). He demonstrated considerable versatility by also appearing in celebrated comedies, including *Way Out West* (1937) with Laurel and Hardy. Although he did not receive major individual awards, his recognition stems from being one of the most familiar and in-demand faces of classic American cinema, capable of leaving a significant mark as an antagonist or a menacing figure in dozens of productions from Hollywood's Golden Age.
