Steven Scales is a British percussionist, known primarily for his long-standing membership in the world music collective Afro Celt Sound System. A key member of the group since its inception, Scales is a master of the djembe and a wide range of percussion instruments, making a fundamental contribution to the band's distinctive sonic fusion of electronic music, African rhythms, and traditional Celtic melodies. His rhythmic expertise is documented throughout much of the group's discography. In addition to his primary work, he has demonstrated considerable versatility by collaborating with numerous internationally renowned artists, including The Waterboys, Sinéad O'Connor, and Jah Wobble.
