Taketoshi Naitō

Taketoshi Naitō (June 16, 1926 – August 21, 2012) was a Japanese actor and voice actor, known for his deep voice and versatile career. Appearing in over 250 film and television productions, he collaborated with some of the greatest directors of his time. His most significant roles include his appearances in Akira Kurosawa's films, such as *High and Low* (1963) and *Red Beard* (1965), and in iconic works such as Kaneto Shindō's *Onibaba* (1964) and Nagisa Ōshima's *Death by Hanging* (1968). He is also known to Japanese audiences for his recurring role as a detective in the popular film series *Otoko wa Tsurai yo*. As a voice actor (seiyū), he lent his voice to numerous documentaries and was the original voice of Daisuke Jigen in the pilot film for *Lupin III*. For his artistic contributions, he was awarded the Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon in 1992 and the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, in 1997.
