Ted Carroll

Ted Carroll is an influential figure in the British music industry, best known as the co-founder of independent record labels. His career began in the 1970s with the famous 'Rock On' record stall in Soho Market, a landmark for collectors and musicians of the era. In 1975, together with Roger Armstrong, he founded Chiswick Records, a pioneering label of the pub rock and punk scene that released the early works of artists such as Motörhead, The Damned, and The Radiators from Space. Later, Carroll was instrumental in the creation of Ace Records, which specialises in high-quality catalogue reissues with an emphasis on genres like rock and roll, R&B, soul, and blues. Under his leadership, Ace has become a global authority in the field of reissues, acclaimed for its curation and the historical value of its releases. For his significant contribution to music, Ted Carroll was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2017.
