Terence Henry Stamp is a British actor, known for his long and versatile film career. He made his debut in 1962 in Peter Ustinov's film *Billy Budd*, a role that earned him an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer. He became an icon of Swinging London in the 1960s, working with internationally renowned directors such as William Wyler in *The Collector* (1965), for which he won the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival, Federico Fellini in *Toby Dammit* (1968), and Pier Paolo Pasolini in *Teorema* (1968). After a period of absence from the screen, he returned to international prominence playing General Zod in the films *Superman* (1978) and *Superman II* (1980), a role that defined his image as a charismatic antagonist. His subsequent career has been characterized by remarkable versatility, with acclaimed roles such as the transgender woman Bernadette in *The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert* (1994), which earned him Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations, and appearances in films such as *The Limey* (1999), *Star Wars: Episode I* (1999), and *Valkyrie* (2008).
