
Thelma Oliver
Thelma Oliver was an American actress and singer whose career spanned Broadway theatre and the underground film scene of the 1960s. She gained her first major recognition on stage for her performance in the play *Purlie Victorious*. She became well-known for her role as Helene in the original cast of the hit musical *Sweet Charity* in 1966. During the same period, she was one of Andy Warhol's Factory "superstars," appearing in several of his films, including his well-known *Screen Test* (1966) and the film *The Last Clean Shirt* (1964). The pinnacle of her theatre career came in 1970 with a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her acclaimed performance in the musical adaptation *Purlie*, cementing her reputation as a talented and versatile performer.
