
Théodore Thalès
Gilles-Maurice Dumoulin, known by the pseudonym Théodore Thalès (Paris, 1949–2016), was a French artist and illustrator who specialized in historical comics. His career is inextricably linked to the medieval series "Garin," which he created in the 1980s with writer André Juillard. This work, renowned for its meticulous documentary research and precise artwork, earned him considerable critical and public acclaim. His other notable productions include the series "Le Vent des Dieux," based on scripts by Patrick Cothias and set in feudal Japan. Throughout his career, he collaborated with major industry magazines such as *Tintin*, *Circus*, and *Vécu*, solidifying his reputation as a master of historical realism. His talent was recognized with several awards, including the prestigious Prix Jeunesse 9-12 ans at the Angoulême International Comics Festival in 1987. Thalès is remembered for his elegant and detailed style, which helped to define the standards of Franco-Belgian historical comics.
