Thomas E. Jackson
Thomas E. Jackson (1886-1967) was an American actor known for his long and prolific career in film and theater. Specializing in roles as authority figures, he became one of Hollywood's most recognizable faces for portraying detectives, police inspectors, and officers. His most famous role was that of Inspector Richard Queen in the Columbia Pictures' Ellery Queen film series, which began with *Ellery Queen, Master Detective* (1940). His extensive filmography, which spans from the 1920s to the 1960s, includes appearances in classics such as *Little Caesar* (1931) and *Mystery of the Wax Museum* (1933), often in the role of a law enforcement officer. Although he did not receive any major awards, his recognition stems from his constant presence and reliability as a character actor, appearing in hundreds of productions and solidifying the archetype of the gruff but competent policeman in classic American cinema.
