Timothy John Ryan, born in Niles, Ohio, on July 16, 1973, is an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as a U.S. Representative for Ohio from 2003 to 2023. During his twenty years in office, he was known for his focus on economic and labor issues, becoming a leading voice for the working class in the Rust Belt. He gained a national profile with his candidacy in the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries and his subsequent run for the U.S. Senate in 2022, which he lost to Republican J.D. Vance. In addition to his political career, Ryan has authored two books: *A Mindful Nation* (2012), in which he promotes the practice of mindfulness, and *The Real Food Revolution* (2014), a book on sustainable eating and local agriculture. His work has been recognized by several organizations for his commitment to the manufacturing industry and pro-labor policies.
