Thomas Edward Sizemore (Detroit, November 29, 1961 – Burbank, March 3, 2023) was an American actor, known for his roles as a character actor, often playing tough characters, soldiers, or criminals. Rising to prominence in the 1990s, he worked with leading directors in highly successful films. His most celebrated performance is as the loyal Sergeant Mike Horvath in Steven Spielberg's *Saving Private Ryan* (1998), which earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination along with the rest of the cast. He also played prominent military roles in *Black Hawk Down* (2001) and *Pearl Harbor* (2001). His filmography includes other significant works such as Oliver Stone's *Natural Born Killers* (1994), Michael Mann's *Heat* (1995), and his first major role in *Born on the Fourth of July* (1989). For his performance in the television film *Witness Protection* (1999), he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. More recently, he appeared in the television series *Twin Peaks* (2017).
