Tony Beckley (1929–1980) was a British character actor, known for his intense portrayals of eccentric, sinister, or villainous characters. Active in theatre, film, and television, he distinguished himself on stage in plays by Joe Orton. His film career is associated with iconic roles in British film classics, including Freddie "the Camp" in *The Italian Job* (1969) and Peter the Dutchman in *Get Carter* (1971). He had the starring role in the psychological thriller *The Fiend* (1972), cementing his reputation as a portrayer of disturbed figures. His final role was that of Curt Duncan in the American thriller *When a Stranger Calls* (1979), which was released posthumously in some countries. Although he did not receive major formal awards, Beckley is celebrated by critics for his ability to make even supporting characters memorable, thanks to a distinctive acting style and a magnetic stage presence. He died prematurely of cancer in 1980.
