Toshirō Mifune

Toshirō Mifune (1920-1997) was a Japanese actor, considered one of the most iconic and influential figures in the history of cinema. His international fame is inextricably linked to his prolific collaboration with director Akira Kurosawa, for whom he starred in sixteen films between 1948 and 1965. His intense and energetic performances made him famous in works such as *Rashomon* (1950), *Seven Samurai* (1954), *Throne of Blood* (1957), and *Yojimbo* (1961). For his extraordinary talent, he twice won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival, for *Yojimbo* and *Red Beard* (1965). In addition to his partnership with Kurosawa, Mifune had a significant international career, appearing in Western productions such as the film *Grand Prix* (1966) and the television miniseries *Shōgun* (1980), which solidified his status as a global star. His screen presence and his ability to embody the figure of the samurai have made him a model for generations of actors around the world.
