Tsukie Matsuura
Tsukie Matsuura, born in 1963 in Matsuyama, is a Japanese writer. She rose to prominence in 1998 by winning the prestigious Akutagawa Prize, one of Japan's highest literary honors, for her novel *Tsuki no Fune* (The Ship of the Moon). In addition to her work for adults, Matsuura is widely acclaimed for her contribution to children's literature. Her most celebrated work in this field is *Kawa no Hikari* (The Light of the River), a story originally serialized in the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper and later collected into a single volume. This work earned her the Japanese Association of Writers for Children Prize, solidifying her reputation in this sector as well. Her career is characterized by a sensitive writing style that delicately explores themes related to nature and interpersonal relationships, demonstrating remarkable versatility in appealing to both adult and young audiences.
