
Turi Ferro
Turi Ferro was one of the most important and influential Italian actors of the 20th century, a native of Catania. His career was inextricably linked to the theatre, particularly to the work of Sicilian playwrights such as Luigi Pirandello, of whom he was a world-renowned interpreter. His performances in roles such as Liolà, Henry IV, and Ciampa in *Il berretto a sonagli* were memorable. In 1958, along with his wife, Ida Carrara, he was among the founders of the Teatro Stabile di Catania, an institution he directed and made famous. Also active in film and television, he worked with directors such as Lina Wertmüller in *Mimì metallurgico ferito nell'onore* and Giuseppe Tornatore in *Malèna*, distinguishing himself with his intense screen presence and his ability to embody complex and tormented characters. His versatility and charisma earned him numerous accolades, including the Nastro d'Argento and a special David di Donatello for lifetime achievement in 1996, crowning an artistic career of exceptional value.
