Umberto Orsini (Novara, March 2, 1934) is an Italian theater, film, and television actor, considered among the most important interpreters of his generation. Trained at the "Silvio D'Amico" National Academy of Dramatic Arts, he has built his career primarily on the stage, distinguishing himself for his intellectual rigor and versatility. Fundamental to his career was his collaboration with director Luchino Visconti, who directed him in memorable theatrical and cinematic productions such as *The Damned* (1969) and *Ludwig* (1973). His filmography includes collaborations with masters such as Federico Fellini (*La Dolce Vita*), Elio Petri (*Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion*), and the Taviani brothers. His intense, uninterrupted theatrical activity has earned him numerous awards, including several Ubu Awards, the most prestigious prize for Italian theater.
