Valerio Bartoleschi
Valerio Bartoleschi is an Italian director, author, and documentary filmmaker, known for his work in non-fiction cinema, often in collaboration with director Nika Saravanja. His filmography explores social, cultural, and environmental themes with an immersive style and a particular focus on sound. Among his most significant works is *Dusk Chorus - Based on Fragments of Extinction* (2016), a sound documentary on the eco-acoustics of David Monacchi in the Amazon rainforest. The film received widespread international acclaim, winning the Critics' Week award at the Locarno Film Festival. He later directed *L'ultimo pittore di cinema* (2020), a portrait of poster artist Renato Casaro, which was awarded the Globo d'oro for Best Documentary. Through his production company, VLN Studio, he continues to develop projects that combine aesthetic research with social inquiry, establishing himself as one of the most interesting voices in contemporary Italian documentary filmmaking.
