Vera Clouzot

**Vera Clouzot** (Rio de Janeiro, 1913 – Paris, 1960), born Vera Gibson Amado, was a Brazilian actress, known primarily for her artistic and personal connection with director Henri-Georges Clouzot, her husband.

Her film career was entirely tied to her husband's works. She distinguished herself in two of his masterpieces: in *Le Salaire de la peur* (The Wages of Fear, 1953), she played Linda, a supporting but significant role. Her most iconic role, however, was Christina Delassalle in *Les Diaboliques* (Diabolique, 1955), where she perfectly embodied the vulnerability and fragility of the victim, an archetype often present in the director's psychological thrillers.

Her style was characterized by a subtle intensity and the ability to convey unease and inner suffering. Her promising career was unfortunately cut short by her premature death.
