
Vera-Ellen
Vera-Ellen, stage name of Vera-Ellen Westmeier Rohe (1921–1981), was an American actress and dancer, considered one of the most skilled and athletic dancers of the golden age of Hollywood musicals. After debuting on Broadway, she established herself in film thanks to her exceptional talent, which ranged from tap to acrobatic dance. Her career peaked during the 1940s and 1950s, a period when she partnered icons such as Gene Kelly in *On the Town* (1949) and Fred Astaire in films such as *Three Little Words* (1950) and *The Belle of New York* (1952). Her most internationally celebrated role remains that of Judy Haynes in the Christmas classic *White Christmas* (1954), alongside Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. Although she did not receive major film awards, her contribution to the musical genre is universally recognized for the incredible technical precision and energy of her performances. For her career, she was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
