Victor Moore

Victor Moore was an American actor and comedian whose career spanned from vaudeville to film and Broadway theater, where he achieved his greatest success. He is primarily remembered for creating iconic roles such as Alexander Throttlebottom, the forgotten Vice President in the musical *Of Thee I Sing* (1931), the first musical to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and Moonface Martin in *Anything Goes* (1934). On the silver screen, Moore distinguished himself by playing good-natured and often bewildered characters, which became his trademark. His most notable film appearances include *Swing Time* (1936) alongside Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, and the role of the plumber in *The Seven Year Itch* (1955). For his fundamental contribution to the world of entertainment and American theater, he received a Special Tony Award in 1948, solidifying his reputation as one of the most beloved comedic figures of his time.
