Vilma Banky
Vilma Bánky, born Koncsics Vilma, was a Hungarian-American actress, considered one of the greatest female stars of the silent film era. Discovered in Budapest by producer Samuel Goldwyn, she moved to Hollywood in the mid-1920s, where she became known as "The Hungarian Rhapsody." She reached the peak of her fame starring alongside Rudolph Valentino in iconic films such as *The Eagle* (1925) and *The Son of the Sheik* (1926). She also formed a celebrated on-screen romantic partnership with actor Ronald Colman in highly successful films, including *The Dark Angel* (1925) and *The Winning of Barbara Worth* (1926). Her career declined abruptly with the advent of sound, as her heavy Hungarian accent was not considered suitable for the new medium, leading to her retirement from the screen in the early 1930s. For her significant contribution to the motion picture industry, she was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
