Vladimir Mikhaylovich Uralskiy (1887-1955) was a Russian and Soviet actor, known for his prolific career in both silent and sound film. Considered one of director Sergei Eisenstein's favorite actors, he became an iconic face of early revolutionary cinema. His filmography includes over sixty films, in which he excelled as a master of episodic and character roles. Among his most celebrated performances are those in Eisenstein's films: "Strike" (1925), "October" (1928), and especially "Battleship Potemkin" (1925), where he played the memorable boatswain. His ability to create vivid and authentic characters contributed significantly to the realism of Soviet cinema of the era. For his significant artistic contribution, in 1935 he was awarded the prestigious title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR (Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic), one of the highest honors for an artist of his time.
