Wallapa Mongkolprasert
Wallapa Mongkolprasert is a Thai architect, academic, and conservationist, recognized as a leading authority in the field of architectural heritage conservation and traditional Thai architecture, particularly Lanna architecture. Her career is closely linked to the Faculty of Architecture at Silpakorn University, where she has trained generations of students and promoted research on monument preservation. She has directed and participated in numerous restoration projects of temples and historic sites throughout Thailand, contributing significantly to the safeguarding of important cultural heritage. Her work is not limited to practical interventions but also includes a vast body of academic publications that have defined conservation methodologies in the country. For her outstanding contribution, she has received the highest honors in her field, including the Gold Medal from the Association of Siamese Architects (ASA) and the title of National Artist of Thailand in the field of visual arts (architecture). Many of her restoration projects have also received prestigious UNESCO awards for cultural heritage conservation.
