
Walter Chiari
Walter Annicchiarico, professionally known as Walter Chiari (1924-1991), was an Italian actor, comedian, and television host, considered one of the greatest leading figures of the post-war national entertainment scene. He made his debut in revue theater, where he honed his celebrated improvisational skills and his surreal humor. His film career includes over one hundred films, ranging from comedy to drama. His most notable films include Luchino Visconti's *Bellissima* (1951), Dino Risi's *Il giovedì* (1964), and *La rimpatriata* (1963), for which he received the Grolla d'oro for Best Actor. He became an icon of the small screen from the early days of television, hosting highly successful programs such as *Canzonissima* and establishing himself with his long, acrobatic monologues, including the famous "Sarchiapone". Throughout his career, he received several awards, including a special David di Donatello in 1986 and a special Nastro d'Argento for lifetime achievement in 1990, testifying to his profound impact on Italian culture and entertainment.
