
Walter Szurovy
Walter Szurovy (Vienna, May 28, 1910 – New York, November 4, 2001) was an Austrian actor. He began his career on European stages before moving to the United States, where he signed a contract with Universal Pictures in the 1940s. He appeared in several films, establishing himself as a character actor; his most significant performances include roles in *Flesh and Fantasy* (1943), *None Shall Escape* (1944), and *The Climax* (1944). He was also known for his marriage to the celebrated mezzo-soprano Risë Stevens. Although he did not win any major awards, he was a recognized figure in the Hollywood studio system of his time. He later left acting to successfully pursue a career as an agent and manager, particularly managing his wife's career until her retirement from the stage.
